Eco farm

Children will initially buy 1 or 2 items from the Eco Farm shop and work out their change. At the next level they will be given coupons or vouchers and need to work out the new cost. At level 3 children will have to work out a percentage of the cost as well as thinking about the ethical dimensions of their financial decisions and beginning to understand that there are people in other countries and their own country who may be less fortunate than themselves.

Bowling Alley

This activity will begin by asking children to add together the cost of hiring shoes and the game price and then multiply this value by 2 to find a total price. Moving on a level; children will be asked to repeat the activity but there are additional costs for adults. For level 3 children work out the total cost for a bowling party.

Cinema

Children will interpret the information shown to work out the costs for a visit to the cinema with snacks for 2 children and more. At the next level they will to carry out 1 step and 2 step calculations involving adding and multiplying to calculate the total cost of their visit. For level 3 children are asked to buy additional adult tickets and calculate the total cost of their visit.

Corner shop

This game will start by asking children to reduce the value of a full price item by a fraction when buying 1 or 2 items from the shop. At the next level children will reduce the value of a full price item by a percentage when buying 2 or 3 items from the shop. At level 3 children are asked to reduce the value of a full price item by a percentage or a fraction when buying buy 2 or 3 items from the shop and then calculate the total amount that they have saved.

Market

Children will start by working out the prices on the market stall by looking at the weight of each item. They will move on to answer word problems related to the weight and cost of items on the price list. At level 3 they will buy ingredients for a given recipe. They will need to buy the right amount of ingredients depending on how many people the recipe will serve.

Restaurant

Children are asked to buy meal deals. They start by doubling different amounts which are added together to make a total billing amount. At the next level they are encouraged to identify doubles and halves of amounts by looking at a set of bills. At level 3 children will work out the value of a digit within an amount of money. They will also have to round up or down to the nearest hundred, ten and unit within a value of money.
